The fixed tube sheet structure is relatively simple, compact, and inexpensive, but the outer part of the tube cannot be mechanically cleaned. This type of heat exchanger tube bundle is connected to a tube plate, which is welded to both ends of the shell and connected to a top cover. The top cover and the shell are equipped with fluid inlet and outlet nozzles. Usually, a series of baffles perpendicular to the tube bundle are installed outside the tube. At the same time, the connection between the tube and the tube plate and the shell is rigid, while the inside and outside of the tube are two fluids of different temperatures.

One tube plate of a floating head heat exchanger is connected to the shell with a flange, while the other tube plate is not connected to the shell, so that the tube can freely expand and contract when heated or cooled. However, a top cover is connected to this tube plate, which is called a "floating head". Therefore, this type of heat exchanger is called a floating head heat exchanger.

Its advantage is that the tube bundle can be pulled out for easy cleaning; The expansion of the tube bundle does not change the constraint of the shell, so when the temperature difference between the two heat exchanger media is large, there will be no thermal stress generated due to the difference in thermal expansion between the tube bundle and the shell.

U-shaped tube heat exchanger, each tube is bent into a U-shaped shape, and both ends are fixed on the same tube plate. Each tube can be freely retracted to solve the problem of thermal compensation. The tube pass shall be at least two passes, the tube bundle can be drawn out for cleaning, and the tube can be Free expansion. The advantages are simple structure, light weight, and suitable for high temperature and high pressure conditions.
